"Inviting In" versus "Coming Out"

Lets stop saying Coming Out. Inviting In centers the experience on the LGBTQ+ individual. Take a moment to think about it. This is not about just changing the words. This is about who are we privileging in this ever ongoing process. The power should always reside with the LGBTQ+ individual on who they want to share their identity with. As a straight cisgender person, it is my responsibility to show up as a person who celebrates everything about them and am thankful for them to feel safe enough to invite me into their authentic world. And my responsibility is not in just a moment but before and after in how I show up daily.
